Hillside Church leans toward the Reformed, Reformation Tradition. We believe in the complete inspiration and infallibility of God’s Word, in the sovereignty of God, and that redemption is found only through faith in Jesus Christ. We believe in Biblical preaching; preeminently expository preaching. We believe that communion should be served every Sunday, and that worship should be orderly, yet warm. We believe in supporting missionaries around the world. We believe in the power of prayer. We believe in the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit and in the any minute return of the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe the goal of the Christian life is to “know Christ in the power of His resurrection” in an ever-deepening relationship.
Missions
Regarding missions. Dr. Bonniwell, Sr. Pastor, in conjunction with the Elders, gives approval yearly to those missionaries that will receive monies from HBC. Our missionaries constitute those who are overseas as well as those that are in-home, inner-city missionaries. We acknowledge in our support that some of our missionaries are engaged more in preaching the gospel, and that others do so as they seek to feed the poor, or care for the needs of indigents in faraway lands.
What it means to be a Church Without Walls
HillSide Bible Church (HBC) is a church without walls, meaning that we are not into bricks and mortar. You will never be asked to sign a pledge and to fund a building project. We are Tabernacle and not Temple. While there are certain liabilities to that, significant amounts of money are generated both for outreach and mission, and for equipping the saints. The church is not a building, but rather it is duly constituted, as Luther said, where the Word of God is duly preached and the sacraments administered.
